OUR HOMES ARE NOT FOR SALE
I was asked by members of the residents associations of estates in Victoria Park, Cumberland Market, Lee Green and Millbank in London to document there fight to retain affordable housing. The estates are unique in having historically been for key workers - teachers, tube drivers, social workers, police officers and the like, both current and retired. Many families have lived and been integral, active members of the communities for several generations.
When the estates were announced for sale concern rose that the change of owners may negatively impact the communities, and the campaign Our Homes Are Not For Sale was launched. After large amounts of negotiation an agreement was reached that has been accepted by the majority of tenants.
The body of work is housed in the Geffrye Museum of London housing Geffrye Museum.
