I got curious about Well St when it was my local High St in London and where my nearest supermarket was - Tesco. Turns out it is the site where Jack Cohen opened the first Tesco in 1919, in doing so revolutionised the way people shop and engage with the High St. Some say supermarkets have killed the High St.
